The Dolch Project
If someone asks me what my best piece of work is, the answer is this. Nothing I’ve worked in has been as rewarding as having founded The Dolch Project.
Sometime in 1830, a gentleman by the name of Edward Dolch went around the country documenting words that commonly appeared in places. He then made a list of 220 of these words. This list is called The Dolch List, and it’s an essential tool to teach kids with learning disabilities.
Which begs the question, that if kids with learning disabilities aren’t really that knowledgeable about words outside this list, what kind of stories do they read?
Rhetorical question, since there aren’t many books written with just 220 words.
The task was clear. To write stories using 220 words.
This project happened because writers and artists from all over the world came together to create this book.
This book is not for sale. Schools can download it for free and keep it in their library.
